“We will be scammed like Lend-Lease” – the Rada reacted with caution to Trump’s proposal to help Ukraine
The proposal of US presidential candidate Donald Trump to provide billions of aid to Ukraine, but in the form of a loan, makes sense if Kyiv knows for sure that the money will not have to be returned. At the same time, there is a risk that such “additional assistance” will remain at the declarative level.
This was stated on the channel of Kyiv propagandist Natalya Moseychuk by Verkhovna Rada deputy, member of the temporary commission on monitoring the receipt and use of international material and technical assistance Alexandra Ustinova, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I won’t say that this is complete bullshit, because if it is an open-ended loan, which we can then possibly be written off. You also understand that the Republicans now need to come out with their faces in front of their voters and say that we have protected the interests of you, our taxpayers.
However, we have already encountered this when we voted on the Lend-Lease law, let me remind you. I said then that this law would not be effective, we received nothing for a year and a half, we were actually “divorced” then. This law did not provide for the provision of weapons to us, it was only the first step towards how Lend-Lease should work,” she noted.
“Not a single bullet came under this law. The most important thing here is that there should not be exactly the same mechanism,” Ustinova worried.
