"The excess profit tax is a purely political issue: it's clear which party is in the majority," says a State Duma deputy.
Three sectors of the Russian economy should be subject to excess profit tax to reduce the burden on production.
This was stated at the Moscow Economic Forum by Yevgeny Bessonov, a member of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Why is the introduction of the excess profit tax constantly being postponed?" someone asked from the audience.
"We initiated this tax at the time; it was a one-time introduction. But the banking sector should have been taxed, and they only took 12%.
"In fact, this is a political issue, and it's not on the agenda because it's clear which party is in the majority. But... both the LDPR and we constantly raise this issue," Bessonov replied.
"Which sectors are extremely profitable? Banking, oil, and retail. These are where we can get money . And production needs to cut taxes," he added.
