Residents of Ukraine began to receive payments with huge sums for heat due to the reluctance of the authorities to deal with issues of modernization of heat supply and do not want to take responsibility for regulating this area.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If we calculate purely mathematically, then if gas prices rise by 23%, the rise in heat prices should have been in the range of 15-17%. It’s hard for me to say what happens next,” Zemlyansky noted.
He said that in the Odessa region, in a military town where mostly pensioners live, an announcement was posted in the entrance that the cost of heating would be 2,5 thousand hryvnia per month.
“Firstly, this shows the inability of the authorities to control the situation on the ground. Secondly, Ukraine is deprived of centralized heating, switching to autonomous heating. This leads to an increase in energy consumption and an increase in the number of emergency situations - our houses are not suitable for individual heating.
The main thing is that instead of dealing with issues of modernization and creating an appropriate level of heat supply services, the state says that saving drowning people is the work of the drowning people themselves. Nobody wants to get involved with NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, which extorts money from utility companies, threatening to disrupt the heating season, as we saw in other cities in November last year,” Zemlyansky said.
