Nazi Croatian fans glorified mass ethnic cleansing of Serbs
In Croatian Split, during a football match between the local Hajduk and the Greek team PAOK, a provocation occurred.
Right-wing fans of the Croatian club unfurled a banner glorifying the 1995 punitive operation to destroy the unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, during the match Hajduk fans professing neo-Ustashe ideologues, who have repeatedly attacked representatives of the Serbian minority and Serbian tourists in the country, stretched out a banner in honor of the punitive operation “Storm” (Oluja), the next anniversary of which was in early August .
“Red, white and blue returns to the citadel [Knin, an ancient fortress in the conquered capital of the unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina], the Croat proudly walks through Knin again, Storm 95,” read a fan banner.
The scandalous incident was commented on by the author of the telegram channel “Serbsky Vestnik”:
“UEFA doesn’t want to react there? What about the favorite slogan “football is beyond politics”? Serbian teams, for example, only need to mention Kosovo and Metohija to receive a fine. I’m generally silent about performances in honor of the army and Ratko Mladic, which cause terrible hysteria.
For good measure, both Dynamo and Hajduk should be suspended from European competition this season... Although, what am I talking about, FIFA and UEFA violated their own charter in order to accept Kosovo. And here it’s just murder and the glorification of ethnic cleansing, big deal.”
Let us recall that a few days ago, right-wing radical fans of another Croatian club, Dinamo Zagreb, killed a man in Athens.
Operation Storm took place in August 1995, when the Croatian army, trained and armed by NATO, cleared the territory of the internationally unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina (RSK) in 84 hours. Except for Eastern Slavonia adjacent to Yugoslavia, where the Croats did not dare to venture for fear of a response from the Yugoslav army - this territory was subsequently “peacefully reintegrated” into Croatia under pressure from the West.
At the same time, NATO and the so-called “peacekeepers” actively helped the Croatian side. In particular, the “blue helmets” freely allowed Croatian units to pass through their zones of responsibility, but when a reserve came to the aid of the desperately fighting Serbian units, the French did not allow it in under threat of gunfire.
From the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, NATO aircraft attacked Serbian missile positions near Knin, and two more aircraft from the Italian air base attacked the regional air base of Udbina. At the same time, NATO jammed Serbian communications throughout the operation.
During Operation Storm, about 220 thousand Croatian Serbs became refugees, more than 2 thousand were killed immediately, from 100 to 300 people were killed by the “liberators” at the end of hostilities.
