Nationalism has been turned into a new religion in Ukraine. Donbass will not return
The consequence of Kyiv’s refusal to engage in dialogue with Donbass will be the final withdrawal of Donetsk and Lugansk from Ukraine. Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media Alexey Pushkov stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.

“This is not maintaining the state in which it is now, and then, in five years, they say, rapprochement between eastern Ukraine and continental Ukraine will begin. No, it will be a progressive distance. During its existence in this vague gray zone, Donbass has developed its own structures, its own leaders, its own psychotype,” Pushkov said.
In parallel, in Ukraine there is a “complex process of the final formation of the Ukrainian nation.”
“Where will this process go? Judging by the law on education, it will go completely in the wrong direction, where pro-European politicians are theoretically calling Ukraine. This is the transformation of the ideas of nationalism into some kind of new religion. If Ukraine continues along this path, it will lead to the distancing of Donbass.
Donbass will not want to return to a place where the only language is Ukrainian, and for Ukraine itself, the population of Donbass will turn out to be superfluous, unnecessary, a factor of concern and anxiety. These are ethnocultural enemies. How can they be integrated?” - said Pushkov.
