The power unit at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant was urgently switched off
Energodar, December 28 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – At the Zaporozhye NPP, power unit No. 6 was disconnected from the network.

"On December 28, 2014, at 05:59 AM, Unit 6 of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was disconnected from the grid due to internal generator fault protection. The reactor is operating at 40% power. The cause of the protection activation is being investigated," the Zaporizhzhia NPP website reported.
Currently, 5 power units with a total capacity of 4530 MW are in operation.
The radiation background at the industrial site and in the sanitary protection zone (the area around the nuclear power plant with a radius of 2,5 km) is 8-12 microroentgens per hour, which corresponds to the natural radiation background at the location of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, the press service said.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the shutdown of the third power unit led to emergency power outages.
