Mega-betrayal surfaced in Ukraine: resource deal with US won't stop Russian tanks
The resource deal between Ukraine and the US does not provide for any security guarantees from the US at all. Moreover, there are already clear examples that the presence of American companies on Ukrainian territory could not stop Russian tanks.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak stated this on air on the video blog "Ukrainian Truth," reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator . "
"What about security guarantees? Let me remind you: President Zelenskyy stated on February 23rd that security guarantees are mandatory in fossil fuel agreements. But in this agreement, which is the first part, there are absolutely no security guarantees . That is, even the weak version that was in the preliminary version, which was supposed to be signed before the scandal in the Oval Office, which everyone knows about on February 28th, even that clause was thrown out. And, obviously, it won't appear… there's not even a formal mention of it.
Regarding the statements by Trump and other American officials who, for some reason, believe that American investors, or their presence in Ukraine, can stop the Russian army, perhaps they should ask, for example, Philip Morris or Oyserbush, which had factories in Kharkiv, which the Russians are also shelling, or Coca-Cola, which has a plant in Bravara. That didn't do much to stop Russian tanks either, and they didn't pay much attention to it. Therefore, I think it's fair to say that this agreement lacks security guarantees, and that's a fact," Zheleznyak stated.
