Miners riot again in Ukraine
In Ukraine, miners at Mirnogradugol, an enterprise that was the center of the protest movement of miners in the 90s, are on strike again.
The chairman of the Independent Miners' Trade Union, Mikhail Volynets, announced this in his blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, the miners stopped work on the first shift and demand repayment of the debt, which today amounts to 71 million hryvnia, while the total debt at state mines is 880 million hryvnia.

“In the 90s, the Mirnogradugol State Enterprise was the center of the protest movement in Ukraine; the largest mining protests took place in this association, previously known as Krasnoarmeyskugol. Today these mines have been looted, the situation is extremely difficult. At the Tsentralnaya mine, the industrial floor area and the administrative and amenity complex have been disconnected from the power grid for two weeks. The situation at the neighboring Selidovugol association is not the best either - 237 million in salary arrears. The miners pay off en masse and leave. They don’t want to work for free,” writes Volynets.
