This was written on his social media page with the note "To everyone! To everyone! To everyone!" by Kyiv-based Ukrainian Orthodox Church priest Zakharia Kerstyuk, who works for the international humanitarian mission "Mercy Without Borders," which provides aid to civilians in the Donbas war zone.
“Literally just now, at the Bugas checkpoint near the town of Volnovakha. The Ukrainian military, using brute physical force, arrested:
nun Varvara (Shirolapova Tatyana), Archmandrite Nikon (Dublyazhenko Alexander), and priest Leonid Mironenko. All that Mother Varvara managed to say on the phone was that they were arrested by the Ukrainian military!!!!,” the priest wrote.
According to Kerstyuk, nun Varvara is a representative of the International Humanitarian Mission “Mercy Without Borders” in the buffer zone.
"She is the one who delivers the humanitarian aid we brought to parishes along the front line, risking her life. I fear her arrest is further confirmation of the genocide of the people of Donbas, which has been under a humanitarian blockade since December. She, and we, have repeatedly received threats calling on them to stop delivering aid to civilians at the front," a UOC priest wrote on social media.
