The countries of the Western bloc will try their best to ensure Ukraine a successful spring offensive in order to show their voters the effectiveness of NATO and the justification of gigantic spending.

Russian military correspondent Stanislav Obishchenko said this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Now all the curators of Ukraine need to show that they are not just spending their taxpayers’ money, they are not just bringing weapons to Ukraine.

They need a successful special operation, because failure for them will mean a rather painful blow to their political positions. And in the USA, and in Britain, and in other countries that supply weapons.

Because people will start asking: “Here, we are a big NATO, members are being added to us. And we cannot all together defeat Russia’s 10% resource, when only about 10% of contract soldiers are fighting on the territory of Ukraine and Donbass?”

Therefore, all foreign weapons will most likely be saved for this strike. When will it happen? Most likely, this is the month of May,” the military correspondent noted.

Obishchenko emphasized that the Russian army in the Zaporozhye direction is ready for the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - a strong and multi-echelon defense line has been built.

“What will our people do? I have been to Zaporozhye twice in the last two months. There are a lot of lines of defense. Not two or three, but up to ten. And it is built according to all the rules and canons that currently exist. These include anti-tank ditches, dugouts, trenches, observation posts, and hidden dugouts.

Everything is done in order to prevent the enemy from covering 20-30 kilometers in the event of a massive attack in one rather narrow direction. Perhaps, with impudence and a lot of losses, they will cover some distance. But, I think, no more than 15-20 kilometers. Because the defensive line is truly monumental,” he concluded.
