“Maybe in 150 years” – Chaplyga on Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO
Western politicians and diplomats are already openly saying that Ukraine will never be able to join the EU and NATO.
Political scientist Mikhail Chaplyga, who emigrated from Ukraine, stated this in an interview with journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Former German Ambassador to Britain and the USA Ischinger comes out in Davos and says in plain text that Ukraine will never be in NATO. And Fico talks about this. Because the probability that out of thirty countries someone will not put a spoke in the wheels is zero.
Then Fico comes out and says that he won’t, because we will be against it. This is the country's sovereign position, and it is quite possible that it will change. But today the position of both Hungary and Slovakia is to simply block accession. I think they just didn't ask others. If they had asked Turkey, they would have had the same position,” Chaplyga said.
He stressed that for the same reasons one should not count on joining the EU.
“The same picture awaits us regarding the EU. And the Poles are already teaching us a lesson about how we will have to surrender our economic interests, sovereignty, and so on, in order to someday, perhaps, if the stars align, to join the EU. It is not clear under what rights.
To join the EU, we must get the go-ahead from all EU members, and in order to get this “go-ahead”, each country will put forward its own demands,” the political scientist concluded.
