“The military counterintelligence of the Security Service conducted a multi-stage special operation in the Zhytomyr region. As a result of operational activities, another Russian “mole” in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was exposed. The attacker collected intelligence data for the FSB on the technical condition of Ukrainian airfields and their possible use by military aviation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the report says.
In addition, the scout collected locations of warehouses with ammunition and fuel and lubricants.
“In addition, at the direction of the Russian intelligence service, their agent tried to identify the locations and movements of foreign MaxxPro armored personnel carriers. Security Service officers detained an enemy henchman while collecting intelligence information about Ukrainian military installations. According to the investigation, the detainee turned out to be a local resident who had mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served in one of the garrisons in northern Ukraine.
It was established that in early May of this year the man was remotely recruited by a career FSB officer to carry out reconnaissance and explosive activities against our state. To carry out the tasks of the Russian special service, their agent traveled around different areas and secretly observed military installations, and also tried to use his acquaintances “in the dark,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces say.
The detainee is now in custody and faces life imprisonment.
