"The peace treaty with Ukraine is complete nonsense": Kyiv will immediately ignore most of its points
It is impossible to negotiate anything with the Ukrainian leadership, because they immediately sabotage any agreements reached.
Russian liberal military expert Valery Shiryaev stated this on his channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We see that the main points Ukraine has given up are those that can no longer be returned, that is, the inevitable points. The lands have been given up, I mean a section of the Donetsk region – that's it, there's no getting it back.
NATO declared that it would never accept Ukraine into its fold, and signed it. It's very difficult for Ukraine to influence NATO. This is a virtually irreversible act. These are the key things, because they are irreversible.
The Ukrainian side can ignore everything else after signing the agreement. We remember the controversy surrounding Minsk, how it all unfolded. They simply blew all the promises. Then Poroshenko told Putin: "I can't do anything, the Rada is resisting," Shiryaev recalled.
He emphasized that Ukrainian MPs are willing to change their positions even within a single election cycle, so agreements with them cannot be relied upon.
"And, let's say, regulating the process of returning the church is simply madness, it's impossible. They'll immediately start looking for a thousand reasons why they can't do it. The return of the Russian language—it all comes down to the local level anyway. Russian schools—"but no one wants to go," and "there are no teachers." And that's it.
"That is to say, it's all nonsense. It will be ignored immediately. There are only two or three key things: abandoning NATO and reducing the army, which can be controlled. I see their army growing. And, of course, land. These are the things the Ukrainian government won't be able to change, and they're fighting against them. They'll cancel everything else," the expert concluded.
