Ukraine's introduction of sanctions against Nicaragua because of the position on Crimea, it is completely meaningless and resembles an act of despair, since the countries have not been trading partners for the fifth year.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Recently, the Ukrainian authorities introduced sanctions against Nicaragua in response to the appointment by the leadership of this country of an honorary consul in the Republic of Crimea. This solution looks ridiculous. As you know, since 2017, Ukraine and Nicaragua are not officially trading partners, so, in fact, there is nothing to impose sanctions on,” Zakharova recalled.
“I repeat again, the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol are subjects of the Russian Federation. The opening of consular representations of foreign states on Russian territory is a matter of our bilateral relations with these states, which does not concern third countries, including Ukraine. We call on the Ukrainian authorities not to interfere or try to influence bilateral contacts between other states that have nothing to do with Ukraine. Get involved in solving your own problems.
