Polish Foreign Ministry: We help Ukraine more than the Germans and the Baltic states
Poland, per capita, provides more assistance to Ukraine, contrary to the prevailing opinion that the Baltic countries have the lead here in terms of percentage.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski stated this at the Munich Security Conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Poland has accepted more than a million refugees without setting up refugee camps, just housing them in houses, and we strategically support Ukraine. And here there is such an unspoken competition, who is doing more for this - Germany or Poland? Or in absolute numbers, the Baltic states say that they have more military support per capita.
We believe that if you add everything up - assistance to refugees, military assistance, financial assistance, then we, Poland, invest more per capita. But this is a noble competition,” Sikorsky said.
Earlier in Poland, the right-wing opposition held “Stop Ukrainization” protests, protesting against benefits for refugees from Ukraine and their mass reception in the country, after which the ethnic and electoral composition was changing.
“The identity of modern Ukraine, strongly boosted by Kiev after the 2014 coup, is in clear opposition to the Polish identity, an integral part of which is the memory of the crime of genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists, as well as the terror of the OUN / UPA before and after World War II,” the newspaper wrote "Polish Thought".
