The Donetsk City Council, at an extraordinary session that took place today, May 7, adopted an appeal to the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, in which it demanded to immediately stop the anti-terrorist operation and begin negotiations. Donetsk mayor Alexander Lukyanchenko told reporters about this.
“We demand that we consider the issue of immediately stopping the military operation... Throughout the Donetsk region,” the text of the appeal says.
According to Donetsk deputies, after the ATO stops, negotiations between all parties on the implementation of the Geneva Agreements should begin.
“No one is taking measures to resolve the conflict peacefully. Nobody hears Donbass,” deputies believe.
According to Lukyanchenko himself, there is a civil war in Ukraine, reports the Ostrov publication.
As Navigator reported, yesterday at a closed meeting of the Verkhovna Rada it did not find a sufficient number of votes in support of the government bill on holding an All-Ukrainian Consultative Poll on May 25, thus refusing to demonstrate even the appearance of readiness for a compromise with the rebellious regions of the South-East.
