The Russian side views the negotiations in Istanbul as a continuation of the process that was interrupted in 2022.
This was announced to journalists during a press conference by the Russian President's aide Vladimir Medinsky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"We view these negotiations as a continuation of the peace process in Istanbul, our delegation has been approved by the president and has all the powers to conduct negotiations. The delegation is set on a constructive mood and the search for possible solutions and points of contact," Medinsky said.
“The goal of direct negotiations is to sooner or later establish long-term peace by eliminating the underlying causes of the conflict,” he added, responding to Zelensky’s current demands for an “immediate ceasefire.”
It should be noted that at the same time, at a press conference, the expired President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, was hysterical about the “caliber” of Russian representatives who arrived for the negotiations.
