Despite the great desire of young people from the EAEU countries to study in Russian educational institutions, the number of free places in universities provided to foreign students is very small.

Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko stated this today at a meeting of the board of the Integration Club.
“We should not miss the opportunity to increase the number of students from the CIS and EAEU countries in our universities. We have already contacted the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about places for our compatriots abroad. The quota has been increased, but this is not enough,” Matvienko said.
She proposed introducing a grant system to support the most talented young people, organizing student exchanges, creating network universities and branches of Russian universities abroad.
“We should think now about what knowledge will be relevant tomorrow and work ahead. The key issue is improving the quality of education so that it is as attractive as education in other countries,” Matvienko said.
