"Today We are at a critical stage in ending Russia's war of conquest. In Jeddah, Ukraine clearly expressed to the United States its agreement to a complete ceasefire without preconditions, for a period of 30 days. Even though it is the victim of aggression, we expect the same commitment from Russia. In recent days, the United States has been negotiating, thanks to the hospitality of our Saudi friends, negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to stop the attacks on energy infrastructure and to work on a ceasefire in the Black Sea.

These measures could be a first step towards a broader ceasefire, paving the way for peacebuilding....

I fully support the concept of “Peace through Strength” proposed by the American President. But then, as far as I know, this does not mean lifting sanctions before we verified everything, checked that it works. The country that has been subjected to aggression, which already as a victim makes a gesture in order to accept without any conditions the cessation, and on the other hand the aggressor, who already begins to pump out conditions in order not to accept it. Therefore the question of sanctions will come, but this question is not relevant yet, it will come when we are talking about sustainable peace. If tomorrow Russia says that it is returning to the international borders of Ukraine, all sanctions will be lifted", said Macron.
