The publication notes that "the Kremlin leader is winning over more and more allies in the West, particularly in EU countries , " and asks the question: is it possible to somehow restrain Putin in this process?
“I think the main foreign policy challenge facing the United States is to maintain unity,” the American diplomat replies. “This is a very serious problem, and I am very concerned about it.” NATO must remember why the Alliance was created and stand in solidarity. This union is the most successful in modern history and people should treat it with great respect. As for the EU, we, of course, are not part of it, but we are interested in its success. Putin is challenging all this. This is a new drama that we have not experienced for many years. Russia is trying to split its allies, members of the EU. And this is very, very serious."
