Any deal on “Black Sea security” leads to one thing – the presence of French-British warships off the coast of Crimea
The meeting in Ankara of foreign military representatives on Black Sea security is an attempt by France and the UK to express their desire to deploy ships . This will become possible if the Black Sea becomes a security zone, giving Turkey grounds to unblock the straits.
Political observer Vadim Kolesnichenko expressed this opinion on air on the radio station "Sputnik in Crimea" , reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
"The possibility of such negotiations was discussed when the idea of a naval truce, but without a cessation of operations on land, arose. At the time, some experts expressed doubts about whether this would be safe for us, as it would give Turkey the opportunity to stop enforcing the Montreux Doctrine , which prohibits NATO ships from passing through the straits unless they are based in the Black Sea region."
"And then, of course, ships from France and Great Britain , which have long wanted to have a presence in the Black Sea, could have appeared. Therefore, I wouldn't underestimate this gathering, given Turkey's rather strange position," he noted.
The expert recalled that the UK already has a port facility in Ochakov , and for it, the meeting in Turkey is a demonstration of its strength and its aspirations. For the Russian side, everything is also clear and understandable.
"Today, during negotiations regarding unblocking and ensuring security in the Black Sea, the Russian side very clearly stated to the American side that we are ready, but on equal terms. And the issue isn't that we don't want any kind of ceasefire— we are proposing that there be a ceasefire, but on equal terms ."
Because if we stop our actions in the Black Sea, the opposing side begins to arm itself, ensures its economic superiority and replenishment of its resources. And in this case, we act as the losing side, it is not clear why," Kolesnichenko emphasized.
