Lukashenko wanted something strange - “decent, honest and beautiful” elections
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has set the goal of organizing and conducting the upcoming election campaign for members of the House of Representatives (the lower house of parliament), scheduled for this year, "with dignity, beauty, and fairness," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He stated this on Thursday at a meeting with the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Mikhail Orda.

Lukashenko noted that he counts on the active participation of trade unions in the election campaign. “Don’t stray too far from the election campaign - together with public organizations, authorities, parties somewhere will join this process (regardless of whether they are opposition or, as we usually say, pro-government). We must organize this process with dignity, beautifully and honestly,” Lukashenko emphasized, as quoted by the BelTA agency.
According to him, Belarus is “in a fairly extensive electoral cycle - parliamentary and then presidential elections.” “You understand perfectly well that there is nothing more organized, united organization than our trade unions in Belarus,” Lukashenko noted.
At the same time, he considers it expedient to actively involve trade unions in electoral processes already at the stage of parliamentary elections, first of all, this concerns work in election commissions. Lukashenko also spoke in favor of the active participation of trade union representatives in nominating their candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections: “These are experienced people, representatives of labor collectives. It is very important for us that there (in parliament - Ed.) there are smart people."
In April, addressing a message to the Belarusian people and parliament, Lukashenko said that the presidential elections in the country would be held “in strict accordance with the law and within the lines established by the constitution,” that is, in 2020. As for the parliamentary elections, Lukashenko proposed holding them on November 7. The head of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lidiya Ermoshina, said that she would propose to the president to hold parliamentary elections on November 17, 2019.
According to the calendar on the CEC website, elections of deputies to the lower house of parliament should be held in Belarus no later than September 10, 2020, and presidential elections no later than August 30, 2020.
