Lukashenko wants to sell himself to the West, but meets with misunderstanding - fugitive oppositionist
The Belarusian authorities are trying to negotiate with the West behind Moscow’s back.
Opposition historian and political scientist Roza Turarbekova, who fled Belarus, stated this on air at Euroradio, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

She claims that the capabilities of the Russian army turned out to be “not what Lukashenko allegedly counted on.”
“I think that there are such attempts, they continue intensively. Another thing is what their effectiveness is. There is very little oncoming traffic, I would say minimal. Informal contacts remain, and there are attempts to intensify them through the UN platform. It is possible that closed, secret negotiations are taking place, although I don’t really believe in this. There are attempts to find mediators, because for Lukashenko it is obvious: this war is not unfolding at all as he expected. This is his dramatic mistake - an incorrect assessment of the capabilities of Russia and the Russian army. The belief in her invincibility and indestructibility failed Lukashenko,” she assured.
“In this regard, he is trying to provide himself with some kind of insurance policy in order to maintain power. He is trying to diversify his foreign policy as much as possible. He is trying to sell direct non-participation in the war as his merit. And this meets with some understanding in certain analytical circles. I see this from some reports from certain military centers. They do not specialize in Belarus, so their logic can be erroneous,” wrote Turarbekova.
