Lavrov: Russia was deceived again in Anchorage
Russia made "difficult" concessions regarding the strategic military alliance in Ukraine during the Anchorage talks, but Donald Trump was unable to ensure the agreements were implemented, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated.
“In Alaska, as I already said, the proposal made by the Americans was accepted by the Russian President, who has spoken about this more than once. It wasn't easy because it wasn't 100% what we wanted, but it was acceptable as a first step that would allow the fighting to cease and all details to be resolved through negotiations,” the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website quotes him as saying.

«We reached an agreement, or so we thought. And then nothing happened on the Ukrainian negotiating front....
Economic relations between Russia and the United States have become tense again, as not only Biden's sanctions have been extended, but Trump's sanctions have also been imposed on Lukoil and Rosneft.
The goal is American dominance in global energy markets. They are trying to push us out. From Serbia, from Venezuela, with which we and the Chinese had close cooperation. It's openly stated that Venezuela's oil industry is now developing in accordance with the American agreement.
Perhaps our American colleagues benefit from delaying pressure on Ukraine? And in the meantime, quietly continue to exert economic pressure on us?" – the minister concludes.
In the same interview, Lavrov complained that “Now, probably, “your word is given and your word is taken” is the principle"Western policy. He recalled how Russia was deceived with the agreements before the overthrow of Viktor Yanukovych, and then with the Minsk agreements.
Lavrov also drew attention to State Department Secretary Rubio's latest statement that The United States is not a neutral intermediary, but a party supporting Ukraine with weapons.
"President Trump says this isn't their war, but Biden's, and if he'd been president back then, this war would never have started. But now he's inherited it. Initially, Trump decided to stop it. And it seemed like he succeeded in Alaska, as I already said. But now, he's probably watching: So, let the war continue, we will push Russia and China out of the world markets as competitors", said Lavrov.
