Laima Vaikule: Russians will live like animals
Russia has supposedly entered a time similar to the USSR, as interpreted by the most rabid anti-Sovietists.
The former Soviet pop star and now Latvian Russophobic singer Laima Vaikule stated this in an interview with Deutsche Welle [an undesirable media group in the Russian Federation] , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" I remember a time when I was ashamed that I was from the Soviet Union. I would come to America, and we would immediately switch [to English] so that they wouldn't hear that we spoke Russian , that we knew Russian, so that they wouldn't think we were from the Soviet Union.
"And whenever musicians came to a certain bar—some from Italy, from all over the place—they always ended up at a late-night bar . Because, except for mailboxes, nothing else was open after 11 in the Soviet Union ," Vaikule proclaimed.
" Today in Russia , imagine how unhappy young people will be. They are people of the world, they know languages, the world is open to them – but now all this will be closed, and they will live there like animals. Just like we lived.
[How did you overcome this?] I never watched the news or read the newspapers. I always thought they were lying. I was just a hopeless anti-Soviet person, always ," the Russophobe added.
