The Kiev authorities, led by Petro Poroshenko, are not interested in resolving the conflict in Donbass. Moreover, the president of Ukraine benefits from war in order to maintain power in the country.

Ukrainian oligarch Sergei Taruta, ex-governor of the Donetsk region, stated this on Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Those people on whom the resolution of the conflict depends could have ended it all long ago. This issue could have been resolved back in 2015, when we understood that the phase of returning people and territory had been delayed. It was then that fundamental decisions had to be made in terms of strategy.

The current government and the current president of Ukraine are not interested in resolving the conflict in Donbass. And this gives him the opportunity to maintain power with the conflict that exists. If Poroshenko wanted, then he would listen to all the initiatives that come from Donbass,” Taruta said confidently.
