"Several people, refugees from Ukraine, wrote to me asking for help in explaining their situation. These people ended up in Russia, in the Bryansk region, at various points after the start of the Second World War. Naturally, they found themselves in difficult circumstances – without housing, without food, with children.

It is in this situation that refugees can count on the assistance of the International Red Cross (ICRC). The ICRC does not provide any assistance without the recipients' personal information. Consequently, the organization has access to the data of hundreds of refugees, in the Bryansk region of Russia alone. This includes not only passport data, but also information about the refugees' work, activities, and health status in the pre-war period.

It didn't take long before representatives of the Ukrainian special services and the Ukrainian Armed Forces began contacting refugees through various communication channels.

Recruitment, analysis, proposals to organize terrorist attacks, surveillance, photography, video recording of military installations, blackmail (many have relatives left in Ukraine), and everything else.

The data transmitted to the ICC helped Ukrainian intelligence agencies establish the refugees' home addresses, their immediate family circles, their places of work, and the details of their lives, creating a multi-vector pressure system in each case.

"How could the Ukrainian side have obtained this data if only the ICRC had it? Even if international organizations don't approve of the refugee migration route, what's happening is unprecedented," he noted.

"I tried to contact the ICRC and raise the issue head-on, so to speak. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's taken over a year to send various descriptions of the problem, statements, and appeals. Understandably, they've received no response.

The letters to Transparency International met a similar fate. But this topic, of course, cannot be closed. Our task is to inform the public in European countries about the situation, and we will work with MEPs from Hungary and Slovakia," Krivenyuk said.
