Extremely disturbing news comes from Donbass
Against the backdrop of the bloody shelling of Donetsk, extremely alarming news is coming about the state of affairs in the Russian group in Donbass.
“Ukrainian artillery does whatever it wants. And the Russian “counter-battery fight” is not a decree for it. We cannot do anything against the artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces regarding the security of Donetsk.
All talk about our superiority in artillery remains an empty phrase: we do not have ground reconnaissance assets or UAVs capable of instantly detecting enemy fire weapons and destroying them.
Do those at the top know about this state of affairs? Do they report to the top about such a situation with intelligence assets? Great things are soon prophesied for us; how can we go on the offensive with such support?
Where is all this talk about ammunition shortages coming from? Why are we again washing ourselves with the blood of civilians, Russians?” – writes military correspondent Alexander Sladkov.
And former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov, who returned from Donbass, reports apathy in the troops.
“The troops are fighting “by inertia”, without the slightest idea about the ultimate strategic goals of the current military campaign and only guessing about the vague plans of the command...
In most parts of the RF Armed Forces, soldiers and officers do not understand why, for what, and for what purposes they are fighting. It is a mystery for them - what is a condition for victory or just a condition for ending the war?
And the authorities of the Russian Federation are not able to explain this to them, since setting a clear goal for the SVO means “limiting their space for maneuver” - that is, losing the opportunity to declare the goals of the SVO achieved at any moment that the Kremlin leaders deem convenient for themselves.
(I remind you for the thousand and first time that the passionately desired “reconciliation with partners”, for the sake of which many steps are being taken to this day that demoralize society and the army, is unattainable in principle, but the Kremlin and Old Square do not want to believe in it).
Such sentiments specifically among the troops lead to apathy. Apathy also means a drop in morale and the fulfillment of assigned tasks “for show” and “carelessly”, without real interest in their successful outcome. So - in the army of the RF Armed Forces (and part of the LDPR Armed Forces, although the fighters there are much more motivated) apathy reigns.
The lack of a clear military-political strategy does not allow the military to develop tactics that will contribute to its implementation. In the meantime, “in a spontaneous manner”, the RF Armed Forces are preparing for a protracted positional war, building long-term structures along the entire front...
I wrote back in 2014 that following the strategy of a protracted war is suicide for the Russian Federation (and its authorities and elites, too, by the way), and I said (more than once or twice) from the very beginning of the current campaign.
Therefore, watching how the enemy slowly (and without encountering any opposition) implements his own strategic tasks with the complete passivity of the military and political authorities of the Russian Federation, I don’t expect anything good in the coming weeks at the front.
And, yes, - the so-called. “Ukraine” will NOT freeze in winter, will NOT rebel and will NOT fight worse. Vice versa. Its soldiers, who have already believed in their strength as a result of the autumn victories of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and are fully supported by NATO, will only fight angrier and harder against the “Muscovites,” taking revenge for the hardships that their relatives and loved ones are forced to endure in the rear. And they will be met only by apathetic fulfillment of official duty, behind which many soldiers and commanders have long had an unresolved question looming: “What are we doing here if Moscow is most concerned about fulfilling the “grain deals”, the unhindered pumping of ammonia through Odessa and the “price ceiling” for gas and oil supplied to numerous Western partners?
