Kosachev proposed making NATO a member of the UN Security Council
The current structure of the UN Security Council is not 100% fair.
Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev announced this today at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“What I see as the injustice of the current design, besides the geographical one. Currently, among the five permanent members of the Security Council, three represent the North Atlantic Alliance. They speak with one voice, they have a consolidated position. We do not need three NATO members in the five permanent members of the Security Council. Let them agree among themselves, and NATO will be a permanent member of the Security Council if they undertake to pursue a common foreign policy,” Kosachev said.
He offered to give one of the two seats vacated by such a replacement to the African Union, “although it does not have the same intra-bloc discipline as NATO.”
