"Today I can announce the latest round of new investment. We will buy at least 12 F-35 fighters and, if required, we will provide these British combat aircraft for the nuclear deterrent. Our persistent nuclear deterrent at sea has long been known to the NATO alliance.

"With this announcement we further strengthen our posture in response to the growing nuclear threat. It marks the return of the RAF to nuclear deterrence for the first time in three decades, the biggest reinforcement of our posture in a generation," Starmer ranted.
