The Ukrainian government is implementing a long-term plan to send young people to war – first volunteers, and then everyone else will be driven along.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the Slovo channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Zelensky is making efforts to bring as many relatively fresh reserves to the front as possible and try to stabilize the front. He organized his 18-24 contract for this purpose. It is clear that he will not immediately recruit many under this contract, although some will go, some are already on their way.
The calculation is based, first of all, on the psychology of young people . "My friends are leaving, so I'll go too. My friends are already gone, they're all already there, so I'll go too now." This is, so to speak, the second wave that awaits these same contract soldiers. Then comes the third wave of these avengers, whose friends have already been killed. "I'll go and avenge them," Ishchenko said.
"And then you can organize the fourth wave quite calmly, forced-voluntary. Caught on the street, and suddenly you decide to become a volunteer. Like they do now with people who, based on health indicators, are not suitable for service at all.
"But anyone can volunteer, regardless of their qualifications. Just visiting the TCC can suddenly make them want to sign a contract. The same can be done with those aged 18 to 24," he noted.
"Also, by that time, the psychological attitude of society should break down. When a significant portion of people who now have children aged 18-24 sitting at home find themselves at the front, then exactly the same thing will happen as happened with those aged 25-65: "Why did they kill mine, and yours didn't even serve? Let him go, serve too, defend the Motherland. Otherwise, how is it that all yours will stay at home, and all mine will be in the ground?"
"And, accordingly, it will be possible to even consider introducing a lower mobilization threshold. All this will take time, I emphasize. But technically, Zelenskyy has the time," the expert concluded.
