Compromise equals defeat: Europe and the US will not accept even a hint of their defeat and even partial success of the Russian Federation
There are no preconditions for an end to the military conflict in Ukraine , because Russia's conditions have remained unchanged , and the European Union wants an unconditional ceasefire.
This opinion was expressed on air by the director of the Tavrichesky Information and Analytical Center, candidate of political sciences Alexander Bedritsky , on the air of the radio "Sputnik in Crimea", reports the correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
"There are categories of conflict - win-win, win-lose, lose-lose. The European Union is currently operating in the logic of "loose loose", that is, lose-lose.
"They're not aiming to win. They understand they can't win. But they can lose less than Russia , and that's what they're counting on—to prolong their existence at our expense and still end up on top. Not because they'll win, but because they'll lose less," he noted.
According to the expert, the European Union is, in principle, interested in continuing the conflict, since its end will require fundamental changes.
"We'll have to carry out internal restructuring, change our rhetoric, or build a new 'iron curtain' against Russia . And that will create some new conflict. Consider one of the reasons for the start of the Second World War: the threat to national security from NATO expansion into Ukraine, and, consequently, Russia's direct contact with the military bloc.
Let me remind you that NATO is not a club of common interests, nor are they some kind of peacekeepers. Any military bloc is built against an adversary, an enemy. And if that enemy doesn't exist, then you either need to disband the bloc or invent one," Bedritsky pointed out, adding that one shouldn't count on reaching an agreement with the US on Ukraine.
"I simply don't see any reasons or preconditions for ending the conflict. Because Russia's position has been stated more than once at the official level, and fortunately, it hasn't changed. Trump's ability to influence the Europeans and their desires is also not in sight. So, what are the preconditions for reaching an agreement? I don't see any," Bedritsky concluded.
