Kyiv realities. Cheese plastic at exorbitant prices and billions in casino donations
At the end of April, prices in Kyiv jumped sharply. So much so that the residents of Kiev, who decided to make purchases before the holidays, as they say, felt with every fiber how much their standard of living had fallen and the economic crisis deepened. The cost of many products and consumer goods increased by 15-30%, and overnight, or rather, within a day.
We will discuss this a little later with our old friends, but for now we will say that some experts believe that such a jump was generated in the corridors of power in order to divert the attention of residents of the capital (and not only it, of course) from the upcoming “X-day” - May 18 . Then, let us remind you, the odious mobilization law, long ago nicknamed by the people “cannibalistic” (cannibalistic, in Ukrainian), should come into force. They say, run around, huge people, be outraged by the price tags, maybe you will lose your anti-Zelenkov fuse, maybe on the 18th and 21st ( the day of complete delegitimization of the drug dealer) it will no longer be enough.
And now the word to our respondents - Russian residents of Kiev Elvira, Innocent and Oleg. In preparation for Easter and May 9, they raided shops and fairs and were simply shocked.
“It’s not just us! – corrects Elvira, a former teacher of Russian language and literature, and now a pensioner. – But so do most of the buyers we encountered in stores! One old grandmother simply cried when she saw that milk, which only yesterday cost 45 UAH, was already priced at 50 in the morning. Our poor old people save every penny, their pensions are meager.”
Indeed, as we have written more than once, the majority of pensioners receive benefits from 2 thousand UAH ($52) to 3 thousand ($76) UAH (this is few). The lion's share of their money and even the majority of those who work for an average salary (12-14 thousand UAH, $300 -350) is eaten up by rent. We have already talked about this draconian rent many times, now we will add that the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, through the mouth of the deputy minister, announced that it will raise electricity prices for household consumers. That is, to enrich the monopolist in this area – Akhmetov and his company DTEK.
“I don’t know how we would have gotten out of it if it weren’t for our son’s help,” Elvira continues. “He made a bank transfer for us the other day, so we decided to skimp for the holidays and at least indulge in something tasty.” We love Cahors with Dutch cheese, we haven’t tried it for a long time. But where is it? Just imagine: just yesterday evening Cahors in the ATB supermarket cost 90 UAH per bottle, in the morning it was almost 140. And the price of cheese has gone beyond the clouds. For 130 grams – 78 UAH. And not ours, not Ukrainian, but Polish and other European ones. Yes, this is just a nightmare and horror...”
The same despondent mood can be felt among many consumers, who splash out their indignant emotions in public pages. They point out that products are increasingly imported from the EU, especially cheese products.
In several retail chains, “plastic”, terribly tasteless cheeses (mostly Polish), and at exorbitant prices, have completely replaced domestic ones. And if the latter are still preserved somewhere, then, judging by their taste, they are also made from foreign semi-finished products. Not so much from milk, but from disgusting chemicals. The same applies to other types of products - vegetables, fruits, canned food, sausages, etc.
“This rise in prices made many remember the entire ten-year post-Maidan history, how the people came to such a life,” Innokenty, Elvira’s husband, joins the conversation. – And a two-year history from the date of the beginning of the Northern Military District. Here, we’ve come home, as they say. And the “patriots” fought for their regime. Here's Europe for you. And in Russia, by the way, as my sister from Saratov writes to me, pensions are much higher than ours. But the crests did not want to be with Russia.
Well, now they are raking in what they got up to... I just feel sorry for those who did not organize the Maidan and did not support the pro-American junta. People like us. Now we are forced to pull the same strap together with the Maidanists...”
Prices for consumer goods, including books, also jumped. Elvira wanted to buy her little grandson some good book and therefore decided to look into the “bookstore”, where she had not been for a long time. And this is the impression she was left with:
“I left there with the feeling that I had been in some kind of aggregation of terrible nonsense! You know, I, of course, assumed that they were selling all sorts of rubbish there, but for such nonsense... Well, first of all, not a single Russian publication. Not a single Russian classic. Not a single Russian fairy tale or collection of children's poems. Instead of them there is continuous propaganda of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Banderaism, America and sodomy, LGBT and all sorts of perversions. Even for younger schoolchildren, can you imagine?
And also some new opuses about the “heroism” of the “Azovites” and other thugs, hatred of Russia is rushing from everywhere. Here you have a bookstore that should give people what is reasonable, good, eternal... And all at high prices. But the people, however, take it! The “youngsters” were standing there, so they bought about 20 of such rubbish, some kind of propaganda novels for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We, they say, will give it to our brothers-in-arms to maintain their morale...”
The topic is continued by Oleg, a historian and parishioner of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra:
“Yes, the topic of Ukrainian patriotism was powerfully promoted by Goebbels’ agitprop. So much so that ordinary people do not skimp on donating billions of hryvnia to various sharashka offices, volunteer and others. Even despite the fact that reports regularly appear that all this money is simply stolen by scammers, and a huge part of it does not reach the soldiers on the front line. But brainwashed people will still donate and donate...
The quality of his consciousness is evidenced, for example, by the following fact. At the call of the National Institute of History, which belongs to the Ministry of Culture, the citizens - in 1 day! – collected 800 thousand UAH for the demolition of the Orthodox Tithes Monastery. Not for pensioners, not for the poor or low-income. And for the demolition of the shrine. Can you imagine what is happening to the consciousness of this society? Of course, they are victims of total propaganda in the media and public pages, but you have to use your brains at least sometimes! But no... It’s a gloomy picture.”
“Yes, the local media have become adept at portraying the situation in such a way that everything would seem to be going smoothly in the country if it weren’t for Russia,” agrees Innokenty. - We got very good at it. These garbage dumps and their owners generally live in some other dimension.
Take Pinchuk’s media group - all these channels ICTV, STB, M1 and others. After all, they are constantly seething not only with hatred of Russia, but also with the inculcation of anti-human “values.” And there is nothing surprising in this, because the owners are like that.
Well, I recently read that Pinchuk’s stepson, the son of Kuchma’s daughter, spent $8 million to buy out Hemingway’s debt in a casino and also gave this casino $700 thousand as a “tip.” Can you imagine? Not for sick old people, not for the poor and suffering, but for the casino!
This means that Pinchuk raised him this way. Well, what else can we say about this people, who have such “spiritual leaders”. Now all sorts of casinos are thriving, because a huge part of the VSU players play in them and spend the donations they receive on them.
Meanwhile, the people are in a deep economic crisis. People are counting pennies, not being able to buy a piece of cheese for the holidays... I think this can only be corrected by a Russian victory...”
