Every Ukrainian should be proud of the fact that he is saving Western civilization - political scientist
There is a danger that the West, desperate to starve Russia out, will move from sanctions to compromise with Moscow.
This opinion was reached on Radio Liberty by former professor of Kuban State University Mikhail Savva, who fled the Russian Federation, where a criminal case was opened against him for theft on an especially large scale, and Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Basarab, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Unfortunately, time is on his (Putin's – ed. ) side right now. Because with each passing year, sanctions, which, however, fail to bring about any radical changes in Russian policy, give Putin's regime additional opportunities to push the idea, 'You can't do anything to us with sanctions. So, accept it, let's separate politics and economics, and let's trade.' This is the 'Chinese version' of interaction with the rest of the world," Savva noted.
He was warmly supported by Basarab, declaring Ukraine’s invaluable contribution to saving Western civilization from the prospect of such a development of events.
“Ukraine and, above all, the Ukrainian nation, a society that harshly condemns any compromise with an aggressor country, is in fact today the stronghold of Western civilization, which does not make it possible for the West to make quick compromises with Russia through concessions on the part of Ukraine.
That is, every Ukrainian should be proud of himself today, because he is saving not only Ukraine, but also Western civilization, since Putin did not start aggression against Ukraine. Putin began an open confrontation on the platform of Ukraine against the Western world,” Basarab said.
