The OCU house of cards will collapse and bury the tomos
The conflict between the head of the newly created church structure of the OCU, Epiphanius, and the head of the so-called Kyiv Patriarchate, Philaret, could lead to the revocation of the Tomos by Constantinople.
Political scientist Alexei Yakubin stated this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Look what is happening with the OCU house of cards. The OCU was created for elections, it was created in a politicized way. Tomos was Poroshenko’s PR project. When politicians or the state interfere in church affairs, this does not end well for church structures.
And now we see this week this Epiphany-Filaret conflict, a conflict that calls into question what will happen next with this widely represented tomos and the structure of the OCU in general. I do not rule out that if the same Filaret continues his line, then it may well be that the Patriarch of Constantinople will even think about revoking the Tomos,” the political scientist does not rule out.
As PolitNavigator reported, Filaret now states that the creation of the OCU "took the path of untruth" and says that the Kyiv Patriarchate continues to exist.
