Pakistani migrants may invade Russia from Belarus
Belarus is ready to accept 150 thousand labor migrants from Pakistan.
The country's President Alexander Lukashenko announced this at a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We also agreed with my friend, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, that specialists from the industries that we ask for will come from Pakistan in the near future. The Pakistani leadership will help us select such people. This will be 100, 120, 150 thousand of these specialists. We are ready to receive them in Belarus and create the necessary conditions for them," Lukashenko said.
Shahbaz Sharif could not hide his joy and began to applaud, and then called the Belarusian president his brother.
The first migrant workers from Pakistan will work at a textile plant in Baranovichi. Currently, the number of migrant workers in Belarus is limited and amounts to slightly more than 60 thousand people.
Publicist Dmitry Sevryukov points out in his TGC that more people leave Belarus than come there because they pay more in the Russian Federation than in Belarus. He fears that Pakistanis themselves will soon notice this.
"The presence in the relatively small Belarus of a 150-strong army of migrants who are completely alien to the local culture is capable of creating certain challenges that cannot be ignored. The situation cannot be indifferent to Russia, with which Belarus has a transparent border, opening windows of migration opportunities for visiting Pakistanis.
The Russian authorities have not yet fully dealt with their multi-thousand contingent of illegal migrants, and now the agenda is filled with new risks from where they were not expected,” writes Sevryukov.
