“Hysterical diplomacy” of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry failed – Kiev called for personnel changes
If Kiev continues to promote narratives of “emotional diplomacy”, welcoming distinguished guests “without ties and socks” and resorting to other shocking behavior, Ukraine will not only lose the foreign policy support of Western players, but will also be misunderstood by the “global South.”
Ukrainian military expert Oleg Starikov stated this on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert was asked about the results of Zelensky’s last visit to the United States, which “was not so optimistic.”
“The countries of the Global South have shown that they are not interested in the war continuing indefinitely, they are interested in the war ending. This was clearly shown.
Secondly... what I call “hysterical diplomacy” (the media call it “emotional diplomacy”) failed. Now, no one will come out to those who come to us in brown boots, without socks, shorts, without a tie, in a dud jacket, without combing their hair, and the like. Because the countries of the “global South” and the whole world do not accept this. This is what I’m saying – diplomacy is even more at the forefront of war than the military.
Therefore, since it failed, our Foreign Ministry is the weakest link. We will now have to strengthen personnel positions. If they are not strengthened, this condition, as you asked me, will worsen even more,” Starikov answered.
He also highlighted as a separate point the change in attitude towards Ukraine on the part of European “partners”.
“The third is the most important. Even our closest strategic partner, the Republic of Poland, even said... we said that we were protecting them from the orcs, from the steppes, from the barbarians, what did they say: we will protect ourselves. Therefore, this slogan that we are defending the Western world, democracy from autocracy and totalitarianism, no longer works. We already need to change the narratives.
If those closest to us, the Poles, said this... at the same time, the Hungarians, Slovaks, Czechs - that is, the whole of Eastern Europe. Of course, they did not act like Poland, but they fully support them. Well, the Germans are there in the distance, but even Berbock already speaks from such positions: we will help you, but everything depends on you, the war is taking place on your territory,” the expert explained.
