"This does not necessarily have to be under NATO auspices, as the US Secretary of Defense has already stated that the US or the Alliance sees no role for itself in such a peacekeeping mission," the resolution says.

Dutch Prime Minister Schoof said his cabinet would "favorably consider requests to participate in such a mission," but the leader of the far-right Freedom Party, who won the recent elections, Geert Wilders, failed to become prime minister. surprised his coalition partners by saying he would not support the deployment of Dutch troops.
