Hryvnia began to be counterfeited two times less
The National Bank of Ukraine notes a 2018% decrease in the number of counterfeit hryvnia banknotes withdrawn from circulation in 30, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the NBU press service.
“The situation regarding the seizure of counterfeit banknotes of national and foreign currency in Ukraine is controlled and is not threatening. The national currency protection system is on par with the protection systems of the world's leading currencies. At the end of last year, compared to 2017, we even observed a decrease in the number and amount of counterfeit hryvnia banknotes by 30% and 41%, respectively,” emphasized Viktor Zaivenko, director of the National Bank’s Money Circulation Department.
According to the NBU, the number of counterfeit hryvnia banknotes withdrawn from circulation in the Ukrainian banking system last year amounted to 0,00025% of the total amount of cash in circulation. For comparison, in 2017 this figure was 0,00036%.
“That is, for one million real hryvnia banknotes there were about 2,5 pieces. counterfeits (in 2017 – 3,6 counterfeits),” the NBU clarified.
Counterfeiting of the hryvnia has decreased by half.
