The current rhetoric from Brussels does not contribute to healthy dialogue.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk stated this, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent , in response to a question about whether there is an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Russia and the European Union within the Eurasian partnership amid worsening relations between Brussels and Washington.

"This could be discussed at length, but Europe's fundamental problem is that it has virtually no resources of its own. Its modern wealth is based on external sources . For centuries, Europe colonized, exported resources from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and engaged in the slave trade. Having exhausted its colonial expansion, in the 20th century, Europe initiated global conflicts based on the desire to redistribute resources within its colonial possessions and to gain control over the USSR's resources ," Overchuk said in an interview with Izvestia.
According to him, the reorganization of the post-war world should also be viewed as an attempt to pacify Europe.
"By the way, the US, if we put aside the existing restraining factor of communist ideology, as well as Russophobia, has always been primarily concerned about Europe's behavior, the possibility of a new war on the continent, and the potential threat of losing American lives in a new European conflict ," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
He recalled that in 2013, when providing for the association agreement with Ukraine, the EU, seeking to expand its markets and gain access to Ukrainian resources, ignored the existence of a free trade regime that existed within the CIS, which affected the economic interests of our country.
"What happened is, in part, a direct consequence of these contradictions. Now, while advancing its interests in the Caucasus and Central Asia, the European Union continues to ignore the economic agreements in force within the CIS and the EAEU, and refuses to acknowledge that in the modern world, agreements must be reached ," Overchuk concluded.
