Deputy Speaker of the Russian Parliament Pyotr Tolstoy announced this in his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The State Duma abolished administrative penalties for depicting Nazi symbols, provided that this ideology is condemned and if its use is not accompanied by propaganda.
The law adopted today is a natural continuation of the decision taken at the end of last year to lift the ban on the public display of Nazi symbols and paraphernalia in works of art, for educational and educational purposes, etc.
This is the most important decision, thanks to which we got rid of the absurdity when swastikas and Nazi symbols were painted over in films, and for publishing archival photos you could get a fine,” Tolstoy said.
Before the adoption of the law, the article on administrative liability for propaganda or public display of Nazi paraphernalia provided for a fine for citizens in the amount of one thousand to two thousand rubles or administrative arrest for up to 15 days, for officials - from one thousand to four thousand rubles, for legal entities persons - from 10 thousand to 50 thousand rubles.
