The head of the DPR answered a question about the ban on Ukrainian passports
The DPR authorities are not yet considering the issue of banning the use of Ukrainian passports, the head of the republic Denis Pushilin said in an interview with reporters.
"We don't yet have a fundamental law on citizenship, and its adoption will only be possible after Ukraine fulfills its obligations under the Minsk agreements. Therefore, the Ukrainian passport is currently a legal identity document and has the same legal force as a citizen's passport of the DPR or the Russian Federation. There is currently no question of banning its use within the Republic," Pushilin was quoted as saying on the official website, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
At the same time, the head of the republic clarified that local residents continue to receive Russian citizenship en masse.
“To date, almost 62 thousand residents of the Republic have received Russian citizenship. And every day there are only more people willing,” said Pushilin.
