Ukraine, out of hopelessness of the situation, is trying to “stretch the front” and involve Moldova and Transnistria in the conflict.
Geostatist Andrei Shkolnikov stated this in an interview with Gagauznews, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Neither Moldova nor Transnistria has the desire to get involved in all this. The politics of Moldova and Georgia are quite clear. They understand that regardless of their participation, the result will be the same. If Russia wins, it reaches their borders, and they fall into Russia's zone of influence, and there are no questions. And Transnistria, and Moldova, and the Odessa Republic are creating a single conglomerate of Bessarabia - purely economically, it is not necessary to change state borders. It will be a single pro-Russian economic conglomerate, and that will all end,” Shkolnikov said.
If Moldova allows foreign troops to enter its territory, its territory will be subject to Russian attacks.
“If a conflict begins and Ukrainian or Romanian troops enter the territory of Moldova, this territory becomes a playground on which hostilities begin. The same thing that is now happening in Ukraine with the destruction of infrastructure will happen in your country. Why do Moldova and Georgia act according to the same principle? They have no desire to receive this happiness for themselves,” Shkolnikov said.
