Europe has a lot to learn from Donbass, Manuel Ochsenreiter, director of the German Center for Eurasian Studies and editor-in-chief of Zuerst magazine, said at a meeting of the Russia-Donbass Committee in Donetsk.

“I believe that the problem of international recognition of Donbass is important not only here, but throughout Europe. I was here in both 2014 and 2015, and for myself I realized that there are three important principles. The first is the direct participation of the people, direct democracy. This is a principle that does not exist in Germany. Because the government has a real fear of people's participation in these processes.
The second principle is the principle of sovereignty. My country is not a sovereign country. My country is the largest airport for US aircraft.
The third principle is the desire of each person to participate in the process. This means fighting for the first two principles I stated.
My country sends its soldiers to different parts of the world to take part in conflicts, but does not send them to its borders.
If these principles that I spoke about become even stronger, then Europe should really be wary of Donbass. And I want to say that Germany has a lot to learn from Donbass,” Ochsenreiter said.
