Completion of the central sewerage system and treatment facilities in Koktebel has been postponed until 2026. Official plans for their construction were announced back in 2017, and regular delays began in 2018.

During the Ukrainian period, residents of the village were forced to pay three times for the construction of a sewer line, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The entire central sewerage system was originally planned to be operational by the summer of 2023. The project in Koktebel called for the installation of 27 km of sewer networks , through which wastewater would flow into five pressure collectors and then be transported to treatment facilities in the Armutluk Valley.

After mechanical and biological purification, industrial water can be used for household needs, and dehydrated sediment can be used for landfill conservation. Not a single drop of wastewater should end up in the sea, provided that all households are connected to the sewerage system.

"The Koktebel wastewater treatment plant is being built simultaneously with collectors that will accumulate wastewater and divert it to the treatment facility. Currently, the village of Koktebel has no sewer system at all.

"As the balance holder, I only have water customers in this area; there are no customers at all for wastewater disposal. Therefore, this is an example of how a system of distribution collectors is being built simultaneously with the wastewater receiver," noted Maxim Novik, CEO of the State Unitary Enterprise "Voda Kryma."

The treatment plant's capacity is 5 cubic meters per day, with potential to increase it to 10. The treatment plant is equipped with a liquid waste collection station for those households that cannot connect to the central networks - houses will have to be demolished to lay the pipe.

"We are currently planning to conclude a government contract for the second phase of the village's sewerage system . It includes the areas for which we submitted bids, and by the time the facility is commissioned, which is 2026, we plan to complete the second phase of the sewerage system," assured Alexander Reznikov, First Deputy Minister of Construction of Crimea.

The construction of a treatment plant and central sewerage system in Koktebel for 1,5 billion rubles is being carried out under the federal state program for the development of Crimea.
