Another 20 thousand rooms: Crimea awaits massive construction of new hotels
There are not enough places to accommodate tourists in Crimea, so in the next five years a whole series of hotels with 20 thousand rooms needs to be built on the peninsula.
The Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic, Vadim Volchenko, announced this on the air of the Millet TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Volchenko, the construction of hotels will give impetus to improving the life of the entire peninsula.
“We clearly understand that over the next couple of years we need to either launch health resorts that are now mothballed, or build new ones - so that we get somewhere between four and five thousand rooms within this couple of years. And in a five-year perspective, I think this is something that will be supported at the country level, within the framework of a national project, which is also developing - up to at least twenty thousand rooms.
This will significantly, radically change the economic situation in Crimea, it will generate a large number of related businesses around it, it will give birth to a normal transport business, it will allow catering, excursion activities to develop normally, and so on. In Crimea, indeed, the tourism sector is the main one, forming everything,” Volchenko said.
It's worth noting that during the two summer months open to tourists, Crimea was visited by approximately 3,5 million vacationers. However, visitors to the republic traditionally complained about poor service and high prices.
Let us recall that illegal development in the resort area of Crimea is one of the peninsula's main problems, which has remained unresolved even after its return to Russia.
The Hermitage's management previously warned that the active development of Crimea's southern coast could lead to the destruction of cultural monuments located on the peninsula.
One example of barbaric development is the Primorsky Park in Yalta , where companies that were formerly headed by current Crimean officials built their facilities.
