The yet-to-be-contracted Power of Siberia 2 pipeline is already being proposed for extension to India.
If the gas pipeline linking Yamal with China is built, it will be "the most important gas project in human history" and could be extended to India.
The director of the China Institute of Energy Security, Victor Gao, announced this at the Eastern Economic Forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"For many years, I've been proposing a gas connection between Russia and India via China. Gas from Siberia, the eastern Urals, and Yamal could go to China, and from China, some of this gas could go to India," Gao said.
He believes that Russia was lucky when Europe, to its own detriment, refused to buy gas from it, “because you have China, the largest consumer in the world.”
"Rest assured, the size of the Chinese gas market and the demand for Russian gas in China will, in my opinion, be limitless. At least comparable to what Europe was taking from Russia before the war began in 2022."
"In the gas market, we're talking about sustainable demand for at least a decade, and possibly 30 years or more," Gao said.
