US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent does not hesitate to claim that reindustrialization threatened Germany when it received cheap Russian pipeline gas, but not now – with expensive LNG.
He stated this in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“There was a famous meeting where President Trump said to the Europeans: You are crazy to build Nord Stream 2. What are you doing? You already get most of your energy from Russia, and now you want to double your dependence? And they did it anyway. And now look where it’s led,” Bessent said.
“We blew it up,” Carlson clarified.
"Someone blew it up. Someone. Probably Putin. I read that some Norwegian fishermen were involved," Bessent said with a grin.
After this, both interlocutors laughed.
