The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus called on the West to start Maidan in Minsk
Ukraine and Europe must concentrate all their efforts to support the Belarusian opposition and prevent the country's integration with Russia. This is stated in a statement by Ukrainian presidential candidate and former ambassador to Minsk, Roman Bessmertny, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, Belarus is a “hole in European security” that poses a direct threat to NATO countries.
“Help the Belarusian opposition! This is what Ukraine and Europe should do to help defend Belarus. We must use all the necessary mechanisms to counter Lukashenko, since he is the instrument of Russia’s expansion into the territory of Belarus... Remember the Warsaw NATO summit, Belarus was spoken of as a weak territory in terms of security for Europe. This is true. Whatever NATO creates a security system for Central Europe, Belarus is a breakthrough, historically confirmed from Napoleon to Bagration’s operation. Even the two existing air bases in Belarus are a huge threat to the European Union,” he said.
Earlier, Ukrainian diplomat and head of the "Maidan of Foreign Affairs" Bohdan Yaremenko stated that Belarus is already under Russia's complete control , and it is not worth expecting Lukashenko to be able to stop the Russian army's advance through his territory into Ukraine.
