Donbass: Ukrainian Armed Forces covered their own special forces with “friendly fire”
As a result of uncoordinated actions by the command of the Ukrainian group in Donbass, servicemen of the 93rd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired at their own special forces, mistaking them for Donetsk saboteurs.
Official representative of the operational command of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov spoke about this today during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Bezsonov, the Ukrainian command, hiding behind the “silence” regime, does not abandon attempts to destabilize the situation on the demarcation line.
“On the eve of the entry into force of the “Christmas” truce, on December 28, military personnel of the 128th mountain assault brigade have already made a failed combat sortie in the Mariupol direction,” he recalled.
Yesterday, the enemy’s preparatory activities were noted in the area of the settlement of Kamenka, Yasinovatsky district, in the area of responsibility of the 93rd mechanized brigade.
“According to data received by Republic intelligence from reliable sources in the 93rd brigade, a group of military personnel from the 3rd special forces regiment carried out reconnaissance of the area for the upcoming tasks. The routes to approach our positions were determined and the terrain was studied.
The day before, the commander of the special forces group of the 3rd regiment, Major Bondarovich, agreed with the commander of the 93rd brigade, Klochkov, on issues of interaction. However, in the process of communicating the team to their subordinates at the front line, at some stage there was a failure.
As a result, the soldiers in the positions did not know that “professionals”, whom they call “special forces”, would work in their area of responsibility,” said Daniil Bezsonov.
As a result of the resulting shootout, the Ukrainian commander was wounded.
“During the traditionally “competently” planned operation, Ukrainian special forces were discovered by their colleagues from the 93rd brigade, who had not yet managed to move away from the New Year’s surrogate, and mistook them for a reconnaissance group of the People’s Militia of the Republic. As a result of shelling by militants of the 93rd brigade, the commander of the reconnaissance group Bondarovich was wounded,” Bezsonov added in conclusion.
